Robert L. Dillman 1939 - 2009

STAUNTON - Robert passed away Thursday, June 11, 2009 at his home.

He was born Jan 23, 1939, in Huron, S.D., a son of the late Estel and Alta (Day) Dillman.

Robert was a 1962 graduate of Gallaudet University and he participated in 1961 World Games for the Deaf, receiving a silver medal for diving.  He had many interests, which included working on vintage sports cars, breeding dogs and flying radio-controlled airplanes.  He taught American Sign Language at Gallaudet University for five years.  Prior to retirement, he was a printer.

He was preceded in death by his first wife of 37 years, Kitty McCarter Dillman.

Family includes his beloved wife, Janice Couch Dillman, two daughters, Maria Jeffers and husband Tom, of Mount Airy, MD, and Kathy Dillman and a special friend, Larry Keyser, of Frederick, MD; two sons, Richard Dillman and wife, Sherrie, of Mount Airy, MD and Ray Dillman of Libertytown, MD; two grandsons, Dalton Jeffers and Austin Keyser; two brothers, Clyde Dillman of Huron, SD and Dana Dillman and his wife, Eva, of St. Cloud, Minn.; and a sister, Althea Acker of Cheyenne, Wyo.
